Antique Essex Glass Pendant

Celebrate a love for fine antique craftsmanship and canine companions with this captivating Edwardian Essex crystal pendant. Encased in rich 15ct yellow gold, this piece features a high-domed rock crystal (or glass) reverse-intaglio cabochon, meticulously hand-carved from the flat back to create a 3D relief of a scruffy terrier / small breed dog.
The delicate portrait is hand-painted in realistic detail with fine brushstrokes, capturing the dog's expressive dark eyes and charming facial features. When viewed from the smooth front dome, the miniature artwork takes on a breathtaking, lifelike depth.
15ct gold was discontinued in 1932, making this an authentic and highly collectible piece of early 20th-century jewellery history.
The pendant measures approximately 21.4mm in diameter.
