Antique Diamond Drop Earrings
14ct Gold & Silver French Stamped
Circa 1880
A breathtaking pair of authentic late Victorian / Belle Époque articulated drop earrings, crafted in France circa the 1880s. Designed with exquisite movement, these earrings showcase a foliate leaf top that suspends an elongated geometric drop, capturing the delicate transition from late 19th-century romanticism to early geometric design.
Each earring is pavé-set with antique rose-cut diamonds mounted in silver with a rich, authentic aged patina—a classic technique of the era used to maximise the diamonds' candlelit glow. A vibrant line of graduated, bezel-set natural rubies runs through the centre, set in warm 14k rose gold to create a striking two-tone contrast against the darkened silver work.
French-stamped with official swan and scallop hallmarks, these earrings are set with a total of 1 carat of natural rose-cut diamonds (0.50 carats per earring) and approximately 1.50 carats of graduated round-cut rubies (about 0.75 carats per earring).
The earrings have post and push-back butterfly clasps (note: the backs are non-identical but fit securely and comfortably).
The earrings are in excellent antique condition, with the original patina preserved on the silver settings. Both the rubies and diamonds are secure. They measure approximately 54mm in length and 11mm in width.
All of our items are either Antique, Vintage or Preloved. They are in used condition and may show some signs of age-related wear, light surface scratches or tarnish.
