£1,500.00

Vintage Bug Brooch

18ct Gold Tested

Circa 1940s

Capture a piece of postwar naturalistic charm with this exquisite 1940s two-colour gold and enamel brooch. Beautifully crafted in 18ct gold, this vintage treasure features an intricately detailed fern branch adorned with a vibrant enamel ladybug.

This brooch is a stunning example of 1940s "Retro" naturalism, perfectly showcasing the Era's love for whimsical, nature-inspired motifs and multi-toned gold.

The Foliage: A gracefully curved fern frond crafted from textured 18ct yellow and rose/two-colour gold. The leaves feature a matte, naturalistic leaf-like finish that catches the light beautifully, contrasted against the smoother, polished Rose-toned gold "stem."

The Ladybug: Nested among the foliage is a delightfully plump little ladybug. It is adorned with rich, glossy guilloché-style red enamel on its wings (revealing textured patterns underneath) with hand-painted black spots and a shiny black enamel head, all bordered by fine gold detailing.

The perfect addition to your brooch or vintage jewellery collection.

The brooch measures approximately 50.4mm in length and 23.2mm in width.

Weight 5.6g
