Antique Book Chain Necklace & Locket

Circa 1880
A finely crafted late Victorian silver locket and chain, dating to circa 1880. The oval locket features deeply engraved foliate and scrollwork motifs, typical of the romantic symbolism favoured in the period. Its hinged construction opens to reveal compartments for photographs or mementoes, with a secure clasp and smooth interior.
The accompanying chain is composed of alternating oval and circular links, the former intricately engraved with matching floral patterns, creating a cohesive decorative rhythm. The chain’s design suggests it was purpose-made for the locket, offering both visual harmony and practical wearability.
The chain measures approximately 18.5 inches (can be shorten to 17)

The locket measures approximately 45mm in height, 35mm in width
Length including loop approximately 60mm
