Antique Suffragette Pendant

Circa 1910
An elegant suffragette-era pendant crafted in 9ct yellow gold, showcasing a symmetrical openwork design with finely scrolled detailing and foliate flourishes. At its centre sits a vivid almandine garnet in a rub-over mount, flanked by two bright peridots in millegrain settings. Extending outward, twin gold bars terminate in teardrop-shaped almandine garnets, each suspended beneath a further peridot accent and framed by decorative gold caps with seed pearl highlights.
The composition reflects the suffragette colour code—green for hope, white for purity, and violet (here interpreted through garnet) for dignity—rendered with artistic flair and technical finesse. A striking example of Edwardian jewellery as political expression, balancing beauty with quiet defiance.
The pendant measures approximately 50mm in height including loop and 28mm in width.
