Antique Cameo Brooch

Circa 1890
A finely crafted 15ct gold brooch set with an oval shell cameo carved in white relief on a natural warm shell ground. The carving depicts a boy playing a flute, accompanied by a small animal beside him, a charming pastoral motif typical of 19th century shell cameo work.
The cameo is framed in an ornate openwork gold mount with scrolling foliate and floral details, reflecting late Victorian decorative style. The carving shows delicate attention to the boy’s posture, the instrument, and the animal, highlighting the skill of the cameo engraver.
The brooch measures approximately 35mm in height and 44mm in width.
